Using Dill – Canning Dill Pickles

· 2 Comments · Using Herbs

With and abundance of dill and pickling cucumbers it is time for canning dill pickles. This is a great way for using dill.

Canning Dill Pickles

Now I could get into all the information on how to do this but my sister has already done it for me. You will find my Grandma Ella’s pickle canning recipe and step by step instructions at her web site.

In the recipe she uses dried dill but I find using fresh dill works just as well.

Happy canning!

P.S. A relish tray of your home made pickles make a delightful treat at Thanksgiving. Slice your dill pickles in long easy to eat strips, add pickled beets, sweet pickles and plenty of olives. Serve on a beautiful glass relish tray.

Those jars of pickles look great.
Cucumbers are in great abundance, everywhere.
I shared with a local market that our family favorite pickle was masterpiece of my Mother’s canning–9-Day Pickles.
Crisp and delicious–just got the recipe from my sisters this weekend!

Yes, Grandma Ella’s recipe is just the best.

In fact I just opened my last jar of Dills this week. Glad the cucumbers are on right now so I can make a couple of batchs of dills for the coming winter.

I always give my kids a bottle to take home at Christmas time. The dill pickles are just perfect by then.
